A Fan's Letter

Goldie,

"Being raised by professional musicians, you can well imagine that I have been hanging around with entertainers and other ne'er-do-wells all my dang life. And I can honesty say that after spending my first evening with Goldie I may be finally, completely ruined for life! And my ultimate ruination began very, VERY young!  My wife and I had a ball and every piece, and I mean every piece, from the cool old theatre building getting to kick up her heels after God-Knows-how-many years of service, to the sound quality (as good as I have EVER heard! And I am usually a tough critic of sound quality), to the house band (having ACTUAL fun playing, EASILY the best gig ever for a working player and the ENVY of any of us who have labored to hone our skills only to have to play junk we don't want to play for folks who don't want to hear it!), to the happy kids running up and down the aisles having the time of their lives (for FREE no less), to the downright cheap consessions (sic) to, last but not least by any measure, you.

"Holy Cow. What a package. Fan-for-life! You can expect that if I can ever get over the shame of wasting 7 years living in this area before I came to a show, I will be a regular and bring everyone I know to visit. I can think of dozens of folks I may need to dig up 'cause they just CAN'T miss this! I mean't what I said last night, Goldie's Opry House is a TREASURE.  In a world where talent and live performance has become almost completely replaced with a pre-recorded message/video/podcast from the latest sponsor-of-the-day, the little piece you've carved out breathes and sweats and swings and lives like the huge heart of the crazy gal in the sequined jacket that has given it so much more than just the name over the door.  It's music and real showmanship that might be dying but, by God and by Goldie, AIN'T DEAD YET!

"Lastly and truely (sic) of immeasurable value, that you have created this venue with such a willingness and an obvious desire to simply welcome young artists to live out their dreams, even if just for a few precious moments, on your stage is priceless. You don't have to bother to explain to me that this is your greatest joy, nothing could ever be more plainly evident.

"I am honored to know you and proud to be a fan. I will see you soon and can't wait to see what you have to show us next.

"Absolutely my fondest wishes for God's peace and many blessings,"

Steve Champion
